Welcome

As we have the history of organizing 20 MODEL UNITED NATIONS - POLMUN conferences with over 180 participants every year in our school, we decided to face the new challenge and organize a youth forum focusing on global economic and financial problems.

We cordially invite you to take part in the Polish Model G20 Youth Summit. The G20 comprises 19 major economies from around the world as well as the European Union, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. It is going to be the first international conference of the G20 format for high school and university students in Poland , held from 10 to 12 th April, 2013. Students will participate as Ministers of Economy, Development and Foreign Affairs and they will represent key industrial and emerging market economies. Issues which go beyond any one country, and which might have an impact on the economic stability of the global community, will be discussed in English.

The goal of our participants is to negotiate a final policy paper, called a Communiqué, addressing the various areas of global polity. The Communiqué is negotiated through practice of consensus, tolerance, and dialogue. The final Communiqué document will serve as a reminder of the common values shared by youth leaders. As well, it will be sent, as a policy framework, to sitting economy leaders.

Youth have a powerful voice and, as the next generation of leaders, need opportunities to review, study, discuss, and offer critical thought about the future. Therefore, Marie Curie High School provides students with the opportunity to meet with their peers and to dialogue and critically think about the future of their world.

The topics of the conference are as follows:

  • Ministers of Foreign Affairs: China and Japan conflict over islands in the East and its impact on the world economy
  • Ministers of Development: Economic reconstruction in post-conflict States
  • Ministers of Economy: The future of the International Monetary System
